Visa cermony
The visa ceremony....
was not what we expected, but was very cool! We went to the US consulate about 45mins away where everything was going to take place. They told us we could not take pictures, but I
brought my camera anyway thinking we could take pics out side with the flag and the building in the background. No such luck! The only US flag was inside the consulate which is a couple of rooms on the 4th floor. Not the big deal place I had imagined.
We sat down with 40 other families waiting for things to begin. We then all filed into a line to receive the brown folder! I didn't know that this brown folder was Kate's ticket to America! She does not become a citizen at the consulate, but the minute they stamp her Chinese passport and open the brown folder at Ohare.
After we received the folder, we were sworn in. We all raised our right hand (grandpa with Kate's high in the air) and took the oath that we were of USA descent and all the information we provided was correct (he said more but I can't remember right now what else he said I got a cold from the other babies)
At that point everyone started clapping and cheering. Was was very neat! Not what I had expected, but very cool non the less.
Maybe the last post until home
love you

a few answered question
What kind of attitude does she have? She is so laid back but always an the move
Is she playful? she is more inquisitive
Does she have a prissy attitude? No not all, at times she is bashful
When she eats does she hate when food is on her clothing or face? She is a very neat eater. If we miss her face is really the only time she is messy
Can you tell if she feels differently in a dress rather than just pants? It’s hard to tell since everyday she gets cuter and cuter!!
Is she a cuddlier? Oh ya! She nestles up the the corner of your neck, and oh man you never want to let go!
Is she a good eater? Good eater she want stop eating! She loves food
Is she walking or crawling? Crawling, but wants to talk everywhere with you fingers
When she first wakes up is she shy or crabby or just excited to see you? Shy, but after 15 mins she is very playful
She always seems to be playing with things....baskets, toys, hot coco packets. Does she play nice with the other kids in the program? She does, but Kate is busier the the other kids exploring
Is she fascinated by older kids? Kinda
Has she seen any animals....do they scare her or is she excited to see them? Except the ones shes been eating, but we are going to the zoo today
When you and Brian are talking and not giving her attention does she get annoyed? Not giving her attention????? Are you nuts… between the three of us someone is always talking to her

Full day of travel
Good evening I mean morning to you!
We just arrived at our hotel in Guangzhou and man is it awesome!!! We are in the executive suite which is nicer then anywhere I've ever stayed. Tall ceilings, beautifully decorated and right in the middle of nothing! We have not had a chance to look around since we got in so late.
We knew our plane was going to be delayed, but no one knew exactly how long it was going to be, so we headed to the airport to wait. We only had to wait for 1 1/2 hours for the "fog" aka pollution to clear up.
It was then up in the air for Kate's first plane ride. She was awesome, not one single cry. Now the flight was only an hour, but she still was awesome. Kate got the most improved baby of the day award. She is night and day from a couple of days ago. She smiles and laughs all the time now. She even cried for Brian when he left the room. Great improvement!
At the new hotel the carpet is clean and new so we are letting her crawl around, but it won't be long till she is walking. She loves to hold your fingers and walk the hallways.
Love you all

Last day in Nanchang

This was our last full day here in Nanchang, so we really hit the town. A group of us went out for dinner and had a very nice time. The staff are always trying to help out; they even feed the babies so you can eat. The strangest thing we had tonight was a whole chicken and I MEAN WHOLE! Of course dad at the foot!
This morning went went to this market almost like a flea market. It was very cool to look around, but we didn't buy much. After shopping we went to this pagoda. It was a very tall building with very steep stairs. Brian and Kate made it to the 4th floor and started back for steady ground. The streets around this monument were amazing. They were old school China. What a great day.
Kate smiles more and more each day, and if she sleeps anything like last night mom and dad will smile more and more! jk
We leave tomorrow at 2:30 for Guangzhou where it is 40 degrees warmer and maybe there we'll see the sun! No blogging then since we are traveling. We're half way to home!!!
Love you

Pics and more pics

Today we ordered Kate a custom dress from her region. Things here are sooooo cheep. Guess how much a custom dress with matching hat....
15.00! Crazy.
It is very cute red with flowers. I hope to get her a few more, but we are going to wait for Guangzhou because there they are like 3.00. But I thought it was cool to get one from her home state.
Where ever we go people look at me them pass and look again. We are definitely a minatory here. When you pass the older women they get mad at you if the babies are not covered with the blanket. It's awesome how much they love their babies... not as much as me though.
We went out for dinner with another family in our group. They are really nice and we really enjoy each others company. He does hair for Redkin and travels all over the place doing celebrities hair. He has given people like Bono, Madona and Kiss all hair cuts. Really fun family! The other people is our group do not venture out much. We try to get out as much as possible, keeps our mind off of home!
Tomorrow we are going to this market where there are about 50 shops. It should be a lot of fun. The way it works is you see something you like. The lady comes over with the calculator and types in a number. Then you type in a number, and this keeps going until you get things for .70 us! Things are so cheep! I know I said that already but it's had to remember that a bracelet that costs 100.00 RMB's is 12.00. We are having a great time!
Good night!
